Welcome to Chemistry and Physics!
-
Chemistry is the study of matter in terms of its physical and chemical properties, the transformations it undergoes, and the energy changes associated with those transformations. Physics also studies the nature and properties of matter and energy. In introductory physics we study the macroscopic interactions of matter and energy as matter undergoes a variety of physical changes.
The scope, sequence, and depth of coverage in these science courses will prepare students for success in introductory level college courses. The regular use of analytical thinking and qualitative and quantitative analysis will also prepare students who wish to transition directly to the workforce after high school. Students report that learning chemistry and physics requires hard work and attention on a daily basis. However, they also report that the experience of learning chemistry and physics helps them grow tremendously, both as students and as citizen scientists.
