Welcome to 1st Grade - Chinese Immersion
Dear Parents and Students,
CCUSD schools remain closed. There are supplemental education resources for all students, however, teachers are not in the schools and will not be available through March 27th. We are working with the Arizona Department of Education to understand more about school closures and our next steps. In the meantime, you may want to visit the two web pages linked below, one for COVID 19 updates, and one for at-home supplemental education resources. We will continue to provide updates as often as possible. We appreciate your patience during this unprecedented time.
1st grade is a year of many important transitions. Children leave behind an environment that includes time for play and discovery, and dive into developing deeper academic skills. 1st grade is a crucial year for building reading skills. This year we will be using a literature based series published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Literacy instruction includes a balance between phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, comprehension strategies, and vocabulary. Daily reading practice is an essential part to making 1st graders strong readers. We will build problem solving skills with many strategies in Math and Science.
