Teaching Philosophy

  • Ms. Collentine believes ALL students are capable of success, no exceptions! Creating a safe, engaging environment for all students to learn is at the top of her priorities.  All students should have access to the general curriculum with the use of appropriate modifications and adaptations. The goal for her students is to learn how to be their healthiest by being physically active, eating healthy, learning good personal hygiene and creating positive relationships.

Background/Qualifications

  • Ms. Collentine attended St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She received her B.S. in Physical Education and minored in Adapted Physical Education. In 2009 she moved to Arizona and began her teaching career at Sonoran Trails Middle School where she taught grade 6-8 Physical Education for one year. She then moved to Black Mountain Elementary and taught k-6 Physical Education and started the Cave Creek Unified School District elementary intramural program. In 2012 she took her teaching career to Cactus Shadows High School. At Cactus Shadows she taught 9th grade Health and Physical Education, Recreation Sports, Foundations of Academic Mentoring. While teaching at Cactus Shadows she also served as assistant coach for the Girl’s JV Basketball and Cross Country teams and was the Head Coach for Track and Field. In 2018 she stepped into administration as the Cactus Shadows Assistant Principal of Operations, Resources and Athletics for 4 years. Tandehl welcomed her 4th son in May of 2022 and took the year off to be home with family. Ms. Collentine lives in Cave Creek with her husband and 4 boys. She is excited to be back teaching in the community she loves and working with the wonderful students and families of Cactus Shadows.
