The 2022-2023 school year will be my fourth year teaching Art. I have also worked as a Substitute Teacher for five years both here in the Cave Creek Unified School District and New York. Prior to moving to Arizona from upstate New York, I taught Art at an elementary school (K-6) and a high school (7-12). I am a former jewelry designer and my work was published in one book and several magazines. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and our two cats, listening to audiobooks, cooking and exploring National Parks.

In Art class, students will have the opportunity to explore, practice, develop and create unique art. A wide variety of art techniques will be demonstrated and explored as each child is encouraged to develop their own artistic expression. During the school year, students will create, present, respond and connect to art as well as build an appreciation for art history. Lessons will be structured around the Arizona and National Standards for Visual Arts. Each month we will incorporate a new Element of Art (Line, Shape, Color, Value, Texture Space) and Principle of Design (Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, Rhythm and Unity) as our main focus. The first and last months of the school year, I will refresh or recap these concepts with students. Students will also have the opportunity to explore both 2D and 3D art projects.
