Mr. Ken Zarda
Hi! Welcome to my page. I have always been interested in history, politcs, and economics. This will be my 16th year in teaching a social studies course. I am originally from the Green Bay, Wisconsin area, making me a lifelong Packer fan and owner (please don't hold that against me). I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a degree in Political Science and went into the finance industry. Teaching became my second career in 2006 when my wife and I moved to Phoenix. In 2017 my family moved to Cave Creek. I look forward to teaching my community.

I believe that the role of a social studies course is to teach citizenship and critical thinking skills. Students should understand how the government was set up, how it functions, and the student's responsibility in citizenship. Crucial to this is the ability for the student to critically evaluate information and how to integrate that information into their personal ideology. Additionally another role of mine is to teach students how to adapt and respect those with differing ideas.
