WELCOME to 6th grade Language Arts!
In 6th grade Language Arts, we will focus on the following learning objectives:
*Reading fiction and non-fiction texts with a purpose
*Reading and analyzing multiple genres
*Story structure and literature elements (much more depth)
*Using accurate textual evidence in both fiction and non-fiction selections to support our thinking and comprehension
*Grammar usage
*Writing for a specific purpose and audience
*Writing multi-paragraph essays using prompts and providing evidence from the text to support our conclusions
*Use Achieve 3000, NewsELA, CommonLit, Listenwise, Quizlet, No Red Ink, and other platforms to practice and support our learning
*You can never read enough- you will ALWAYS have an independent reading book!
