Mrs. Hale

Meet Mrs. Hale

  • Hello!  I am excited to share my love of learning with you as one of your fifth grader teachers.  This year I’ll be teaching ELA.

Let me tell you a few things about myself.  This is my fourth year at Lone Mountain Elementary School.  In 2019, my husband, JD, and I moved to Cave Creek from Fort Collins, Colorado, where we lived for almost 20 years and raised our two children.  Our oldest, Mallory, graduated from Berkeley Law School in May and works in Phoenix, while our youngest, Jeremy, decided to stay in Colorado where he is studying Nursing and works as an EMT.

Although I was raised in Texas, I am not a fan of the summer heat.  JD and I spent this summer, like we do most summers, camping in Colorado with our blind dog, Ruby, and our cat, Chester.  I spent most of my time reading and hiking as well as enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

I graduated with a Bachelor in Communication and a Master of Education in Teaching as a Reading Specialist from the University of Texas in Arlington.  Before coming to Lone Mountain, I taught 5th grade at Zach Elementary for 17 years.

Educational Philosophy

  • I believe we all learn best when we build off our strengths and challenge ourselves.  Students become better and stronger readers when they are given a choice in what they read, time to read, and set goals for ways they’ll grow as readers.  The same holds true for writing. We’ll look at what good writers do and work to show that in our own writing.  My goal is that my students see themselves as learners and become critical thinkers.  This happens in an environment where students share and discuss their thinking, growth is celebrated, and mistakes are honored.

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." William Butler Yeats
