I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! This is my 9th year teaching and my fourth year at Black Mountain. I am so thankful and blessed to call BMES my home!
I started my teaching career in Indiana, where I was an elementary reading interventionist for one year before moving to the classroom. I taught 2nd and 3rd grades while in Indiana and then made the choice to take some time off to raise our two kids. In 2016, we made our home in Arizona and two years later, I went back to the classroom. Since being back, I taught 4th grade and 3rd grade for one year each and am so happy to be back in 2nd grade again this year here at Black Mountain! BMES holds such a special place in my heart, and I am thankful to be a part of this wonderful family!
I was born and raised in Indiana, and I have an incredible husband of 12 years. We have 2 beautiful children who will be in 5th and 3rd grade. We are an active family and both kids are involved in sports. If we're not at the hockey rink or dance studio, you can usually find us on the golf course! We also have four dogs and love to travel!
I am SO looking forward to this school year and all the learning and growing we will do!
Educational Philosophy
-
I believe teaching is my calling and every day I will give 100% of myself to your child. It is my prayer that my students will walk away from 2nd grade being not just academically smarter, but more socially responsible and kinder than when they walked in the door. I will teach students reading, writing, and arithmetic, but I will also encourage them to think outside the box, problem solve, learn to work together, and overcome obstacles that come their way. Each student will receive individualized attention and be met exactly where they are with the resources needed to meet their own personal academic and behavioral goals.
