Mrs. Shelby Lutz

I grew up in beautiful Central Oregon in a tiny rural town, Sisters,OR. I love the outdoors and being a competitor. I grew up riding horses, golfing and snowboarding. I had the privilege to win 2 State Champion Golf titles my sophmore and junior year. During my college years at Oregon State University I become 2012 Miss Rodeo Oregon, and finished my degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. After college I attended George Fox University and recieved my Masters of Art in Teaching. I then traveled to Rwanda, Africa and taught Professional Development and subsituted all over the country for 3 months. Once I landed back in the US I made my way to beautiful Arizona where I met my husband. We both compete in the sport of rodeo together and in our free time with our 3 horses and 3 cattle dogs, are coaches to many young individuals. We live a blessed life and teaching at Lone Mountain is just the cherry on top!

Educational Philosophy

  • As an educator it is my job to inspire and strengthen my students and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore in education. In the classroom I encourage a variety of learning methods to best fit my different personalities in my students to reach their full potential. Regardless of life's challenges and uncertainties I believe all students have potential and deserve an education that embraces diverse learning styles and background experiences.

The foundation of my educational philosophy centers on the idea that all students are capable of learning given an environment which promotes engagement and student centered learning. All students enter the classroom with a unique set of skills and goals and it is my responsibility to provide lessons that allow studentts to explore and reach their potential.
