Greetings, and welcome to Lone Mountain Elementary! I am confident that you will find our school to be a place that inspires students to use their individual strengths, curiosity, and imagination to solve problems. We are committed to teaching students and families that they are in control of their learning, connected to their community, and competent to serve and teach others. Please join us in our journey of continuous improvement as we learn and serve together.
I have served as an elementary school principal for the past seven years. I earned my Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Foundations in 2011 from Illinois State University. My research focuses on how to implement successful two-way dual language programs at the elementary school level. I believe that the purpose of elementary education is to ensure all students have access to an exceptional learning environment that recognizes their strengths, builds on them, and, thus, prepares them for the future.
As a native of the Pacific Northwest, I grew up in Oregon and earned my undergraduate degree from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. While studying to be a high school Spanish/ESL teacher, I met my husband who is a professor of English at Arizona State University. Together, we are raising three daughters. As a family, we enjoy being outdoors, watching sports, reading books, and cooking meals together. At Christmastime, you will almost certainly find us watching our favorite movie, White Christmas.
