I am so excited to be a part of Lone Mountain Elementary School, and I look forward to an amazing year with my first grade students! I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Elementary Education. I went on to earn a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University. The first several years of my career, I taught kindergarten and first grade in Chicago, IL. I was then fortunate enough to move to Nassau, Bahamas where I taught first and fourth grade at an International School. After spending six years in the Bahamas, my family and I moved to Cave Creek, AZ, and then to Washington, DC, where I taught second and fifth grade. We are now in Cave Creek for good, and I am so happy to be back! I have two children, Logan and Caitlyn, who will also attend Lone Mountain and Sonoran Trails this year. It is going to be a great school year!

I believe my role as a teacher is to nurture and encourage the lifelong learning of my students. Through hands-on activities, classroom discussion, and even the use of humor, I hope to prompt students to think creatively and explore their natural curiosity. I try to create a classroom environment that fosters self-esteem. Through positive reinforcement, realistic goal setting, and constant monitoring of children's achievements and struggles, I am able to help a child develop at their own pace. Creating a welcoming space for learning is so important, especially for the youngest learners. As an elementary teacher, I am acutely aware that I am defining the school experience for my students. I work hard to make that experience a positive, nurturing one.
