Welcome to Kindergarten
My name is Julie Dine and I am so excited to have you in my kindergarten class this year! You will learn so many interesting and exciting things.Kindergarten is an incredible time of growth! The social, emotional, and academic growth that takes place is phenomenal!Your child will also attend encore classes each day (Mandarin Chinese, Music, Art, P.E. and STEM.)
Your child will make new friends and learn the art of cooperation and collaboration through literacy centers, math centers and lots of Kagan structures.
This will be an amazing year!
Phonics The Phonemic Awareness spiral book is distributed at curriculum night. Please work with your child on these verses 3-4 nights a week (10 minutes at a time.) You will choose the activities on the back of each verse for your child to complete. The most difficult ones are in the "beginning to read" section. The extra written work should be done on the blank page following each verse. These spiral booklets will be turned in at the end of each quarter for evaluation. I will let you know the exact date a few weeks prior to it being due.
Handwriting Homework will begin in September. The 2-sided practice page will be sent home on Tuesday's and due on Friday's. Your child is only to work on one side per night. Please sit with your child to make sure they are taking their time, using a proper pencil grip and doing their best.
Math Enrichment pages will be sent home at the beginning of the month. You have until the end of the month to complete the activities. Your child only needs to hand in the colored page, but is welcome to hand in the individual activities as well.
TRRFCC Reader Homework will be sent home at the beginning of the month. Please have your child color, or place a sticker on each book as you read together nightly. This is due at the end of the month as well.
