I have been a part of the Desert Sun family since 1997. I was a first grade teacher for 6 years (1997-2003). After having two wonderful children, and wanting to spend those early years with them, I was a substitute for CCUSD for 5 years (2003-2008). I am now in my 16th year teaching Kindergarten (2008-2023) and also had the unique opportunity to "loop" to form a K/1 combo in 2020-2021. It is an honor and a joy to encourage and watch these young minds grow and develop in the busy life at school.
I have had the opportunity to live in New Mexico, Texas, California and Arizona (in that order). My favorite place to spend time is in Sedona. I have a big heart for music and love country and blues. When a quiet moment greets me, I enjoy an iced cup of coffee, a piece of dark chocolate, a nice walk or a nap! With my family, I love to attend baseball/football games, enjoy a bbq together or learn something new at a museum, aquarium or zoo! I have a daughter who attends Grand Canyon University and a son at Cactus Shadows High School. They both started at Desert Sun Academy in Kindergarten! Time flies!
I graduated from Biola University (La Mirada, California) in 1995 with a degree in Liberal Studies, and minors in Communication and Bible. In 2000, I completed my Master's degree in Administration and Supervision at the University of Phoenix. I also have my Early Childhood, SEI and K-12 full-gifted endorsement. Using technology in the classroom is something I love to do to embrace learning and make it fun. It is important for me to keep up with this changing world! I plan to be a life-long learner, as I try to instill in all of my students, and open my road to many new experiences in the future. See you at school! ~Kristine Paul
