Mrs. Allie Nasr
Hello there!
Welcome, welcome, welcome to Music with Mrs.Nasr! This is my second year at Desert Sun Academy and I am beyond excited to create with you all in 2020-2021!
Fun Fact:
I have called Cave Creek my home since I was 9 years old! I attended Lone Mountain Elementary, Sonoran Trails Middle School, and capped off my K-12 education as a Falcon at Cactus Shadows. I am so thankful that I get to give back to the community that gave me so much and teach this next generation of kiddos!
Here’s a little peek into my life:
I was born and raised in Arizona. I grew up an outdoor adoring, sunshine loving, adventure seeking, dirt road living, monsoon-crazed kid. My firefighter father instilled in me a deep love for the wilderness. My favorite place to be is at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. My dad and I hiked the Canyon for the first time when I was nine and we’ve hiked it upwards of 13 times since then! I also grew up an animal adoring, people loving, laughter seeking, adobe house living, art-crazed kid. My mom passed down her love for interior decorating and flea market shopping. My mom and I have a very close relationship; she is my dearest and most treasured friend.
Performing is in my soul. I have been singing, dancing, and acting for as long as I can remember! My love for the performing arts carried me into my college years at Grand Canyon University where I studied to become a music teacher! I did my student teaching right here at Desert Sun Academy with the lovely Cindy Pushak in 2015, and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music Education with an Emphasis in Vocal Performance.
My husband, Mat, is a Firefighter/Paramedic with Arizona Fire & Medical Authority—we have been married for three years. We have a two fur-babies: a little pup named Obi Wan (I have a deep love for Star Wars) and a sweet kitty named Juniper. We live very close to the school and I really enjoy working in and giving back to the community that I live in.
When I'm not teaching you can probably find me:
1. Gardening
The way to my heart is through plants—anyone who has been in my classroom knows this because there are plants everywhere. I *love* having greenery around! I have plants all over my house and I enjoy tending to my garden outside as well.
2. Exercising and enjoying nature
In the mornings you can find me out running or at the gym, and when it isn't 10,000,000 degrees outside, I adore going on hikes!
3. Enjoying my family
My husband and I have a lot of fun together watching movies and indoor rock climbing, my mom and I are constantly at thrift shops, antique stores, and flea markets looking for new treasures, and my dad and I love to watch hockey (Go Yotes!) and listen to music together.
4. Playing music with my band or at church
Music isn't just my job, it's my passion! I am in a folk duo with my childhood best friend and we gig around town. I also play music at a few local churches in the area.
I can't wait to get to know all of you better as we make our way through this school year! I am looking forward to taking on this year with you.
