Mrs. Mary Kerschbaum

Hello to my home at Desert Sun Academy!  My name is Mary Kerschbaum and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a B.S. in Kinesiology and a minor in Adapted Physical Education.  I have taught Physical Education for 25 years, with the exception of classroom assignments when I was a substitute teacher.   My career began in Wisconsin, then Texas and finally Arizona. This is my 3rd year at Desert Sun Academy.  Before that, I taught at a K-8 Academy in Phoenix for 5 years.  Most of my career in teaching took place in Texas (Conroe I.S.D.) where I taught Physical Education as well as became the Coordinator of Health and Physical Education for the entire district.  I LOVE teaching creative units as well as traditional sports to students of all ages.  It will be fun to welcome back all students to DSA!

Personally, my husband Todd,is an Engineer with a Power Company, and we enjoy adventures in hiking and biking.  We have hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim 6 times!  We have also explored may countries by bicycle.  We have two grown children,  Amy, an Assistant Principal at Desert Mountain High School and Barrett, an Engineer working for HESS in Houston, Texas.  They and their families have blessed us with 4 grandchildren, Callum, Hannah, and Darby and Sloan.  Our only child at home is Paisley, our Golden Retriever!

I am also one of the Cross Country Coaches for our campus and welcome our 5th and 6th grade students to join our running team to get to know others on our campus and learn good sportsmanship competing against others.
