This link will direct you to a list of book recommendations that I'll add to as new titles come to mind. I've tried to sort them by reading level, but it's definitely not a definitive level (nor is this a definitive list).

CliffsNotes Writing: Grammar, Usage, and Style Quick Review, 3rd Edition
by Claudia L Reinhardt and Jean Eggenschwiler Year Published: 2011This is a great resource for writing papers and essays! While you will encounter a variety of formats (MLA, APA, etc.) in future classes, this is a great basic resource that includes a wealth of academic grammar and writing nuggets that will help on ANY essay or research paper. Again, NOT a requirement, just a resource I've found helpful in the past.
Everything You Need to Ace English Language Arts in One Big Fat Notebook
by Jen Haberling Year Published: 2016This is a GREAT resource! For those who feel like they'd like to have a teacher to ask questions at any moment, this book is just that. Packed with info about grammar, language, reading fiction and non-fiction, and writing, this is designed to be a supplement to the notes and materials from class. This is NOT required at all, just a resource I thought some of you might find helpful. I purchased my copy at Costco for $8.99, and I've included a link to Amazon that goes straight to the book as well.
