    Senior Honors and Awards Ceremony

          A senior honors and awards ceremony will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the CSHS blue gym.  This format will include the Class of 2022, senior parents, guests and community representatives.  Senior surveys will be given the week of April 26th to gather input for the awards ceremony.  Only seniors who have submitted written verification of financial awards will be recognized throughout the ceremony.  The suggested dress for the event is casual business attire.

    Senior Final Exams

          Remind your senior that they are participating in some “high stakes” internal and external assessments in May.  They should check with each teacher for final deadlines for special projects or assignments prior to finals week.  Senior final exams will be given May 9th – 13th during regular classes.

    Graduation Slideshow

          One of our pre-ceremony events is a slide show displayed as guests arrive for the graduation.  Parents are asked to submit a photograph of their graduate, emailed directly to: cshspics@ccusd93.net. Please save the file using the student’s last name, first name (i.e. Smith, John).  The deadline for submitting photographs is May 5, 2022.  Cactus Shadows reserves the right to exclude any non-school appropriate photos.

    Cap and Gowns and Graduation Announcements

           If you have any questions regarding an order, please contact Matthew “Cheese” Hatten at Jostens at

    (602) 765-7337 or matt.hatten@jostens.com.  Should a senior not be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony, the cap and gown will be given to a parent after May 19th. Cap and gown refunds will be made for the following reasons only: if the student does not graduate, if the student moves, if the garment is not used and remains in its original package.  Refunds must be requested directly from Jostens.

    Mandatory Senior Meetings

          Seniors must attend senior meetings that will be held on Monday and Tuesday, May 16th - 17th from 8:00 a.m. to noon in the gym. You are not to bring anything with you in the gym.  Attendance is mandatory.  These days are not to be considered vacation days.  Seniors must dress appropriately in compliance with the school dress code.  Seniors are asked to leave the main campus immediately following dismissal from senior meetings.  Additionally, all school issued textbooks must be returned and any school debts must be cleared prior to the May 16th, senior meeting in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.

    Senior Breakfast

          On Wednesday, May 18th, from 8:00-9:00 a.m., senior breakfast will be provided followed by mandatory graduation practice.

    Senior Sunset – will be on May 12th at 6:30 – 7:45pm on the football field. 

    Prom

    Prom will be on May 14th at Warehouse 215 from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm.

      Graduation Ceremony

         Graduation will take place Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at Grand Canyon State University, 3300 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ  85017.  Front doors will open at 5:45 pm for graduates.  Guest to arrive at 6:30 p.m..  All Seniors need to check in no later than 5:45 p.m. 

    Tickets

        Monday, May 16th, we will be distributing tickets for Graduation, please let your students know how many tickets you will need.  These are for general admission only.  You will need these tickets to enter. Apologies for late notice, GCU is requiring tickets to enter.

     Seating

        Open seating will be on a “first come, first served” basis.  Individual parties may not hold seats.  Your senior will be seated in a designated east or west side arena. Individual parties may not hold seats. 

    Parking for Graduation

        Graduates are encouraged to ride down to the facility with their family for the ceremony; carpooling is encouraged.  Any graduate needing assistance with transportation should contact the front office.   Parents and guest should plan on 60 minutes to drive and park at Grand Canyon University.  Directions to the facility can be found on the school website.  Due to the large number of people, it is suggested that parents and graduates coordinate a meeting spot on the grounds of Grand Canyon University for after the ceremony.

    Graduation Photographs

         Ordering information from a contracted professional photographer will be given during graduation practice and at the ceremony.  You will be able to scan a QR code that will direct you to Lifetouch/Waldo.

          Parents and guests will not be allowed to stand or videotape from the aisle ways or near the stage area once the ceremony begins.  

     Graduation Diplomas

           Diplomas will be handed out during graduation.

     Participation in Graduation

          All seniors are encouraged to participate in the commencement ceremony.  If any senior is unable to participate, he/she may request to be excused by writing or contacting Ms. Grimm in the front office.  The ceremony is a dignified ceremony.  Appropriate behavior during the ceremony will be strictly enforced and anyone not displaying exemplary behavior will be asked to leave.  Any senior student trespassing on the Cactus Shadows campus during non-school hours or involved with any destructive or disruptive activities during the second semester may not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

    Graduation Walk

         Monday, May 16th, students will walk through the halls of the middle schools, and their elementary schools.  If you did not attend either, you can choose what school you want to go to.
