Occupational Therapy

  • What is Occupational Therapy?

    School Based Occupational Therapy is provided from pre-school through HS at CCUSD. We are a related service to the academics, providing support to the teachers and students to improve overall abilities for independence and academic success.  OT support students with a variety of disabilities and are an integral part of the IEP team. 

    What do Occupational Therapists do?

    An occupational therapist works with students to support their ability to function and succeed in different activities in the general education setting.  They provide interventions, resources, and supports for students.  The occupational therapist works as a part of the evaluation and IEP team for students.  If it is determined that student is eligible for occupational therapy services, the occupational therapist will develop and monitor IEP goals.  

    What are occupational therapy focus areas?   

    An occupational therapist works to assist students in a variety of ways to support students in the areas of writing, math, reading, self-help skills, sensory,  social skills, transitions, and behavior supports.
