Mrs. Michelle Milona
To tell you a little about myself, I was born and raised on the East Coast. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree at Rhode Island College. My husband and I moved out to California in 2001 and we lived there for six years. In 2005, I had the pleasure to teach Art to sixth, seventh and eighth graders at High Tech Middle Media Arts in Point Loma. In 2006, we moved back to the East Coast for some time before moving here to Arizona.
I am not only a teacher here at our school, but I am also a proud parent of two children (one who attends DWES and the other STMS). From 2008-2014, I worked in the Early Childhood Education field as a Director. As much as I enjoyed being a Director, I was eager to get back into a classroom of my own. So my journey back to teaching began!
I had the pleasure to be a substitute here at Desert Willow during the 2013/2014 school year. It was an exciting year as I was able to meet so many children in many different classes. Then the good news came that there were open positions for a full time teaching position here at our school for the 2015/2016 school year. I had the fortunate opportunity to teach fourth grade. We had so much fun learning, getting to know one another, and going on some great field trips. My journey continued as I moved to the third grade for the 2016/2017 school year. I was so excited to learn a different level of our curriculum and the opportunity to teach a new set of students.
My journey was not over, I moved back to fourth grade for the 2017/2018 school year and I was excited to use the knowledge that I gained teaching third grade to support and enhance the fourth grade learning experience. I continued my journey teaching fourth grade when I moved over to the English side of Spanish Immersion for the 2018/2019 school year. Since then I have had the pleasure to work with Senorita Torregrosa. When students are with me, I teach Language Arts and Social Studies in English, and when students are with Senorita, she teaches Math and Science in Spanish.
I am so excited to have your children in my classroom and I am eager to get to know each and every one of them. Please let me know if you have any questions. The best way to reach me is by email.
