Degrees and Certifications:
Nicole Bissing received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with honors from Pratt Institute. After school, she worked her way up into the Fashion Industry in New York City and was most notably the Head Designer of Touch Me (a junior sportswear collection). NYC Fashion Designer relocated to Phoenix, Arizona to start up her own collection Minimal, Nicole Maletta, 1998-2001. The Minimal collection was widely received in the Phoenix Market, and the collection was featured in various local news stations and in many local magazines. Mrs.Bissing started teaching Fashion at Mesa Community College and was a weekly Fashion Columnist from 9/2000- 7/2007 for the East Valley Tribune. Mrs.Bissing’s other positions in Arizona included: Regional Manager for Macy’s in Special Services( Personal Shopping and Interior Design) for Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Las Vegas and; Department Chair for Fashion Design and Merchandising, BFA Program at Collins College.
Mrs.Bissing’s biggest inspiration as an artist was her Hairdresser/Artist mother, muse AKA Studio 54, Disco Queen in the 1970s; and nature. Her life’s dream is to learn as many mediums as possible and recreate textures, animals, insects, and plants found in nature interpreted into art. Her fantasy would be to live in a house she made and filled with everything she has created (her version of Alice in Wonderland World), furniture spoons, etc.; but who has the time? Mrs.Bissing visually loves Specimen Art and Taxidermy but loves animals and life more, so her artwork is a cruelty-free way of enjoying the genre (ArtOfInsect). Mrs.Bissing also loves Halloween and considers it her yearly fashion outlet. Her costumes are a combo of wearable art and high fashion.
Mrs.Bissing combined her love of teaching and art and became an Elementary Art Teacher. Mrs.Bissing spent her first year teaching art at both Desert Sun Academy and Lone Mountain Elementary. Mrs.Bissing is extremely excited to finally be teaching at Desert Willow Elementary, where her own boys currently attend. Mrs.Bissing's current artistic endeavor is working on getting her children’s books published, which she has written and illustrated.
